Not only does it appear that the automaker is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2024\/11\/has-bmw-seriously-underquoted-the-2025-m5s-horsepower-and-torque\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sandbagging the power it makes<\/a>, but it\u2019s also bigger and heavier than ever before. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2024\/10\/review-2025-bmw-m5-hybrid-delivers-a-heavyweights-punch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">We really liked it<\/a> during our time testing it, but that doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s going to hold its value well. The result wasn\u2019t exactly what they\u2019d hoped, though, because it failed to meet reserve. While we can\u2019t know what that figure was, we do know other important numbers like the MSRP, which was $139,625 including delivery. <\/p>\n<p><strong>More: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/05\/bmw-m5-touring-us-sales-popularity\/\">Who Knew A Super Wagon Could Outsell A Sedan In America<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Less than a year later, with low mileage, the open market wouldn\u2019t bid above $106,000 for this super sedan. That\u2019s a hefty 24 percent drop in value over that time and mileage. Interestingly, it also took a bidding war to get the price to that figure. Eleven minutes before the hammer fell, the high bid was just $88,000.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s not as if there was some sort of major issue with <a href=\"https:\/\/bringatrailer.com\/listing\/2025-bmw-m5-3\/\">this car<\/a> either. Someone recently paid $196,000 for a super-low mileage example of the previous generation of the M5. That\u2019s a cool <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/05\/this-bmw-sedan-appreciated-52000-after-118-miles\/\">$52,000 over MSRP for a car that is three years old<\/a>. Why the discrepancy? Well, it was the CS special edition, but as one commenter in this new auction put it, \u201cBuyers have spoken, they don\u2019t want HYBRID TECHNOLOGY in performance cars!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No doubt, this latest M5 is a good car given all of the caveats worth considering. Despite that, it appears as though it might not hold its value as well as the previous generation, at least not for a while. It would\u2019ve been interesting to see how much a wagon version would\u2019ve sold for. It\u2019s doing well in the U.S. market.
